Is it mobile compatible or responsive?
These days if your web developer is not able to make your website accessible via mobile devices then you may as well move on. More and more people have mobile device and access the web via these devices so it is important that your website is responsive. (mobile accessible) . This means it will display properly or rather adapt to the different sized screens of mobile devices. Your business should not be punished because your developer isn’t keeping up with trend that affect can affect your search engine rankings
Do You Create Easy-to-Use Websites?
Your website should be easy to use, both for you and for your visitors. Editing your website should not frustrate you or require Phd. Level knowledge. This is why it is important that your website is created with a Content Management System (CMS) for ease of updating.
Your website should also be created with client and visitors in mind. No matter how nice your website looks, if your visitors have difficulty navigating the information then it means nothing. So to avoid general frustration, a proper layout and navigation structure should be in place and also search capabilities. Will training be offered/included?
This question is very important as you may not want to keep calling your web developer everytime you need to add a new page or photo or video to your website. It is important to know if training on updating and managing the website content will be provided for your team, whether training comes as in house tutorials or in the form of video tutorials.
What happens if the site breaks, is hacked, or malfunctions?
Truth is that sites get hacked and you may not always be able to stop it but you must be in a position to bounce back quickly and not lose all your information. Find out what security measures are in place and whether or not your web developer offers ongoing support. This may come at an additional cost of course but it is good to bear this in mind.
What will be required of our company throughout the project?
A successful website cannot be built independent of client input. It is important for you to know what is required of your company from a resources, time commitment and deliverables aspect.
